Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder, was born on Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her Winona in honor of her hometown. Michel Horowitz' father was editor and author along with Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father had a Jewish family. The actress is also half-sister to Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger brother is Uria. Ryder and her family relocated to Mendocino County in California at the age of seven. Ryder was seven. The family didn't have electricity. Ryder was a consummate reader and spent her time studying books since she had no television. Ryder, then 12, took up a place at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in the year 1983. Her first role was a success on the big screen in 1986 when she was 15 years young. Ryder endured bullying while in highschool. Her hope was that her acting career would alter the way she dealt with bullying. However, the plan didn't pan out. Still, she pursued her dream. In 1988, it was in the year Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that gave her her first big break. Ryder continued playing parts that proved successful in several movies. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated in the Academy Awards. One of them for her role as a character in The Age of Innocence.
